PRAISE for JOCELYN and MARCELLE
From Around the Country.
Hello Ladies!
I really love your book! It has helped me alot at my job and has taught me things
that in college were never taught. I have even recommended this book to resume
writer, co-workers and the Mary Kay lady.
Thanks

I love, love, love this book. I have just started my own consulting firm for women
in business and I use your book as my bible.
Great work!
This book is honest, funny & right on the mark regarding the world of work. I have
often been a victim of PMS & your advice really helps. I often re-read certain
passages to remind myself of your advice.
My favorites are to have options & be the ultimate planning maching. I also love
how to move THE CHEESE.
Also how everything you do is being observed & to always think about your image.
I love this book so much & recommend it to all working woman.
Thank you so much for your candid, humorous book.
Regards,
Jennifer Montello
I cannot praise your book enough. It was one thing to read it and realize that so, so much pain of my first post-collegiate job could have been avoided. (Long story short: it was the definition of high-stress and dead-end, and I stayed far too long doing all the wrong things!) It was another to immediately apply the authors' principles to a brand-spanking-new job--and watch them work.
Then I recommended it to a friend I'd left behind in the workplace from hell. She read it. She took it to heart. And she left the evil workplace with not one but THREE other fabulous job offers. She's a great person, she deserves every step forward she gets, but--and here's the key--she got what she deserved because of the guidance of this book.
So, thank you a million times. If it weren't for your book, two women on the left coast would be toiling away in dead-end jobs, wondering why they never got ahead.
Ladies, First of all thank you for your book. It is the Bible for those of us who
have just graduated from college into the world of work and has proven invaluable
to me. It saw me through countless interviews, my first job out of school, and
gave me the good sense to have options, seek and find a better job, and identify
something that would really make me happy and make that goal happen for myself.
Instead of sitting in the software-sales-job-from-hell-that-was-eating-my-soul,
which paid well but I was wildly overqualified for, I took your advice and sought
out the job I really wanted from the start with a major company that was very
competitive and I wasn't sure I could get. Well I got it. I kept my journal of
things I really wanted from my life and identified that I did not want to spend
it selling software that could basically be programmed to do my job for me, and I
wanted to work for a major company with some stability as opposed to the small
operation that I was working for. With your good advice I made it happen. So thank
you both so much. I recommend your book to all my friends, and I will give it as a
graduation gift to college graduates. At the University of Arizona I worked at a
public library and among all the career advice books yours by far has the most
practical and well packaged advice for women. I reread it often. I cannot thank
you enough for writing it.

Hey Big Sisters, Your book is by far THE BEST book on women in business I have
ever come across. But it doesn't stop there. I am following your suggestions
and already I see significant changes in my frienships, marriage, and
professional development. And that is no exaggeration. I cannot even begin to
express in words how much your book means to me. I feel as though I have
discovered some little known secrets that few successful women know. I used to
think that my issues with people had to do with MQ - some Mysterious Quality
that turns people off and it's something that I will never be able to change.
But it just turned out that my not getting much of a response from people in my
social life and business life has more to do with my visiblity than anything
else. I changed a few things about myself and noticed immediate results. I had
several lightbulb moments go off, especially when you discussed the following
topics:
-
Options are Oxygen
-
The Just-Like-That-Factor
-
Be Positive When Talking w/ People
-
Chat+Hum vs. Transactional Talking
-
3-Step Rule
-
Conflict Resolution (This part works very well in marriage. I am learning how
to be silent and really listen, rather than be defensive.)
I can go on and on. Few books have changed the quality and trajectory of my
life, and I can honestly say that this is one of them. Thank you so much for
your wisdom and thanks for publishing it in paperback! (Had you published it in
hard cover first, I don't think I would have looked at it.) Best Wishes to You
Both.

I've just finished reading your book and I have to say I loved it! I thought the
information and advice you provided was spot on and plan to implement quite a
few of your ideas ASAP. I'm 27 and figured that by now I should know what I
want to do with my life and it was helpful to know that others have felt
exactly the same way. I'm hoping that by starting my own DestQuest I'll have a
better understanding of where I want to go so I don't continue driving myself
in circles.
Thanks again for the advice!

Hi Jocelyn-
I really loved meeting you at your talk and book signing for the NYC Panhellenic
group. I was the short blond with the bright turquoise shirt and blond hair who
sat near the front. J I want to thank you and Marcelle so much for writing this
book and thank you for being such a warm, giving, and witty speaker.
After telling you I was a bit overwhelmed and you signing my book with reference
to that I realized - Hey now! I aught to stop saying (and thinking) that way!
The opportunities that will be good for me are out there. I just need to get
chatting and humming more and finish polishing my resume!

Best of luck with the book promotions and your new baby!

"I'm graduating with a major in Japanese this May
and I'm hell-bent on pursuing a career in business the SMART way. Everyone in
my family either works in nonprofit or for the government so I honestly knew
nothing about what I'm trying to get into. Although I still know very little, I
feel much better equipped to take a proactive approach to my career, rather
than just waiting around for life to happen TO me. Thank you so much for
writing such a straightforward, readable guide for women in business."

"Hi! I'm a college student - from J's alma mater, Syracuse University!- interning at a
newspaper over the summer. I found your book just in time- after a month of complaining
to my mom about how many horrible stories I was assigned, I have taken to heart the advice
from your book and have noticed some big improvements at work. I get assigned more stories,
but even better, they're INTERESTING articles. Thank-you so much! I now feel ten times more
confident going out into the world of work when I graduate in two years."
"Thank you so much for writing this book. I bought it less than a month ago
and realized that while I wasn't doing anything wrong, I wasn't doing everything
I could be. I had just started a job search when I picked up your book and read
something in your book about getting a job with the word "assistant" at the beginning
of your title instead of the end. Well I'm proud to say that in just about 3 weeks I
went from a marketing assistant to an assistant account executive at an ad agency for
a luxury car manufacturer! I start Monday. So thank you for showing me what to do.
I'm one step closer to my dream job!!"
"This book is amazing!I was browsing in the library for a fun book to read on vacation
and saw this and thought, "this is perfect for my life right now"! I checked it out and
immediately began reading it only to find that it was perfect for me. I am continuing to
read it at every chance I get. I currently work in catalog production and design with a
side of IT for PDF workflows. This book has given me great ways to tap into the huge
magazine/catalog/print marketplace. Thank you for a totally appropriate book."
"Love, love, love your book. It is a brilliant, concise, easy read. Brava!"
"I just read your book prior to staring a new job and found it very
interesting with a lot of great advice. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
with the rest of the world!!!"
"Brilliant book! Thank you. It has definitely impacted my perspective on
work life."
